Placentia woman suspected of car theft arrested after short pursuit in Costa Mesa

COSTA MESA — — A Placentia woman was detained Sunday, July 2, after cops chased after a lorry reported swiped from a Fiat dealership, a police authorities said.

The Costa Mesa Police Division got a phone call at 6:07 p.m. from Orange Coast Fiat in the 2500 block of Harbor Blvd reporting a swiped lorry, Sgt. Matt Selinske stated.

Concerning an hour later on, a Costa Mesa law enforcement officer located the automobile, a Fiat 500, near 17th Road as well as Monrovia Opportunity, Selinske said. The motorist sped up off in the car and a chase started.

The vehicle was stopped after about 2 minutes at 7:05 p.m. in the 1400 block of Superior Avenue in Newport Beach, Selinske claimed. Iliana Villasenor, 38, of Placentia was detained as well as scheduled on suspicion of grand theft car as well as escaping an officer, Selinske claimed.
